Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) yesterday announced that it has signed an agreement with Careem Qatar to offer taxi fare promotions to Doha Metro passengers for their “first and last mile journeys”.
Through this agreement, special discounts will be offered to Metro passengers who book a taxi to take them to and from Doha Metro stations.
“This agreement comes as a part of Qatar Rail’s ‘first and last mile strategy’, through which the company aims to provide comprehensive solutions to complete the full transportation cycle for Metro users and provide them with a seamless experience in order to boost Metro ridership and paving the way to achieve the company’s vision to be the favoured mode of transport in Qatar,” Qatar Rail said in a statement.
The agreement was signed by Abdulla Abdulaziz al-Subaie, Qatar Rail managing director and CEO, and Khaled Nuseibeh, general manager of Careem in the GCC.
Commenting on the agreement, al-Subaie said: “This is the second agreement we have signed for taxi fare promotion for Metro passengers. We are confident that our partnership with Careem Qatar would positively contribute to our customers’ overall experience. Meanwhile, we will continue with our efforts to facilitate integrated solutions for customers and ultimately increase Metro ridership.”
Careem is considered one of the top ride-hailing app in the Mena region, Turkey and Pakistan, serving more than 24mn users in the region, the statement adds.
