‘Screen For Life’, Qatar’s National Breast and Bowel Cancer Screening programme, has launched its annual national Breast Cancer Awareness campaign to mark the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2018.

The campaign’s tagline “Your Health is Precious, Get Screened” is a message from the children to their mothers, urging them to get screened for breast cancer. It shows the love and concern the kids have, and the level of awareness they have on the health of their mothers.

The month-long campaign will incorporate a comprehensive range of activities including intensive educational lectures addressed to private and governmental entities, activation booths in major malls in Qatar, distribution of educational and awareness materials in all PHCC health centres.

The campaign will target women aged 45-69, reminding them not to delay and book a screening appointment at one of the three dedicated screening suites, at Al Wakra, Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khail Health Centres, by contacting the call centre at 8001112.

“Raising awareness of breast and bowel cancer and the ‘Screen For Life’ objectives is a year-round goal for us. This year’s community outreach initiative aims at engaging the younger generation, so they will encourage their mothers to take action and get screened for breast cancer. This is a step towards raising awareness of the whole community, so they can play an active role in encouraging people to get screened,” said Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, manager, Cancer Programme, PHCC.
