The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Republic Jorge Faurie underlined that the visit of His Highness the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Argentina will contribute to strengthening the relations between the two governments and deepening the cooperation and friendship between the two peoples.

Faurie noted that many agreements in the fields of economy, sports and culture will be signed during the visit, thus expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries.
In an interview with a Qatari Arabic newspaper, Minister Faurie stressed that Argentina is keen on promoting the relations with the State of Qatar through increasing and diversifying its exports, noting that the two sides will launch fruitful cooperation in the sectors of agriculture, energy, communications, tourism, infrastructure and others. He added that his country also wants to establish a strong relation with Doha in the field of sport, especially with regard to the 2022 World Cup.
He noted that there are great opportunities for Qatari investors in Argentina which has leading global companies in the food market able to contribute more to food security. He expected more productive relationship in the strategic sectors such as agricultural industry, mining, finance, telecommunications, renewable energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, software, knowledge-based services, retail and tourism.
Faurie expressed his satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations reached in recent years through dialogue and continuous cooperation.
Asked about Qatar 2022 World Cup and if this would enhance the cooperation between Doha and Buenos Aires, Faurie said that Argentina believes that sport generates strong and lasting ties that go beyond governments to societies as a whole. In this context, Argentina reaffirms its desire to establish links in this area with Qatar and to encourage any action that contributes to this end. This intention includes the signing of bilateral agreements, the exchange of athletes and trainers, as well as the establishment of specific cooperation programs.
On Argentina's position towards the Palestinian issue, Faurie expressed the hope that the Palestinian and Israeli sides would resume peace talks as soon as possible in order to reach a just, peaceful, final and comprehensive agreement in the framework of the two-state solution.
He underlined the right of the Palestinian people in the establishment of an independent and viable state on the basis of the 1967 borders and in accordance with the decisions reached by the parties in the negotiating process.
Speaking about his country's position on the fight against terrorism, he said that Argentina condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and affirms its readiness to participate in the international efforts aiming at eradicating it within the framework of international law and respect for human rights.
