As part of its commitment to Social Responsibility, Occidental Petroleum of Qatar (Oxy Qatar) has donated various used furniture items to Hifz Al-Naema.
The non-profit public organisation and charity distribution centre, established 10 years ago to fight food wastage, organises the collection and distribution of surplus fresh and dry foods in the community.
Hifz Al-Naema also manages a charity warehouse, which gathers second-hand clothing, furniture as well as electrical and electronic devices for distribution to families in need.
Oxy Qatar president and general manager Andrew H Kershaw said: “Giving back to the communities where we live and work has always been important to us at Oxy. Oxy Qatar strives to be a Partner of Choice everywhere we operate by investing time and resources in these types of programmes that strengthen local communities.”
Hifz Al-Naema public relations officer Yousef al-Khulaifi said: “The society has developed beyond only donating surplus food; our people have now started involving themselves in donating household supplies and other goods and we are very grateful to Oxy for this very special contribution.”
Oxy Qatar vice president of human resources and administration Khalid al-Hamadi, deputy general manager Mohamed al-Hajri, director of Qatarisation Yousuf Buhindi, and supply chain manager David Adams were also present.
