The first show will take place at Asian Town Plaza Cinema Hall Screen-4, West End Park, near Grandmall and cricket stadium, Industrial Area at 5:30pm.
Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale- Kasaragod is running successfully across India and other GCC countries. The critics have already called the movie a blockbuster.
While talking to Community, Shetty spilled some beans over the intricate details of the movie and the process of its making. “The film opened with excellent reviews. So far, it has managed to do wonderful on the box office.The film is primarily about schoolchildren but it also deals with sociological repercussions of minority voices being suppressed,” said Shetty
He added, “The film deals with the condition of Kannada schools in the border of Karnataka and Kerala states, and the language struggles faced by young students. A real-life incident that took place in 2007, which is relevant even today, turned out to be my inspiration for the film. The film captures the heart and soul of Kasaragod, where people from Karnataka are struggling to keep their mother tongue alive.”
“The film begins with an introduction to the quirky characters of the town. There are a bunch of children who lead their carefree lives while also trying to study in their government-aided Kannada medium school. The school is suddenly shut down by greedy government officials, that leads to agitation by the Kannada population. The children take it upon themselves to ensure that they reopen their school and seek the help of a person from Mysuru to fight their case”, director shares.
About the cast of the movie, he said, “A number of young boys and girls are a part of the cast, but Anant Nag, who plays a key role, have stood out for his performance. Pramod Shetty, a Yakshagana artiste and a parent to a student also justifies his character. Other characters including Prakash Tuminad, child artiste, Ranjan, Sapta, Mahendra, Atish, Chirag, Sampath, and Prakruthi lend good support.”
The director further said, “Vasuki Vaibhav’s compositions lend the right mood to the film, while Cinematographer Venkatesh Anguraj captured the beauty of the border area. The film features an issue handled sensitively without being preachy.”
Talking to Community, Subramanya Hebbagelu, who has regularly been distributing Kannada movies in Qatar, said, “Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai is not an edgy commercial film, but it does have scenes that have an edge over the run-of-the-mill tales. This is one sweet outing, if you like to watch cinema as a holistic experience and not as just a two-hour-plus getaway. The sociological message it narrates is real and could be relevant to any town in the border of any Indian state where language can be at risk because of man-made boundaries.”
Subramanya, who is also a known social worker in Qatar, said, “I have taken one step ahead from my daily routine and took a decision to serve my community in a unique way. I try to provide entertainment to the community by bringing in kannada movies to Qatar.”
He added, “I have so far screened14 movies in three years.There are around 25,000 Kannadigas living in Qatar and my moto is to provide them a source of entertainment and make them feel at home.”
“The movies already screened in Qatar includes, Rangitaranga, Kotigobba 2, Dodmane huduga, Chowka, Hebbuli, Rajakumara, Ondu Motteya Kathe, Are Marler, Kappitota, Very good 10/10, Kirik party, Chamaka Kannada Movie, Tagaru, and Ondalla eradalla, he noted.
He added that release of Kannada movies in Qatar brings the expatriates from Karnataka together. It provides an opportunity for them to meet each other and socialise. He said that he is happy and satisfied with the response of the kannadigas to the earlier movies and expects that the upcoming movie will also have a great reception here. He noted that the Kannada movies provide a golden opportunity to the expatriates to promote their native language and culture among their children in Qatar.
