Qatar hopes to do more LNG deals with China, said QP President & CEO Saad Sherida al-Kaabi.

“China is a very important growing LNG market; we are working with them very well. We appreciate the good relationship we have with China as a country and with Chinese companies. They will soon be the largest importer of liquefied natural gas and we are the largest LNG exporter,” al-Kaabi said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Global LNG consumption is expected to rise by more than a third over the next decade to 416mn tonnes per year, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

Chinese imports of the fuel surged 35% in the first eight months of this year and gas producers from Australia, Africa and the US are boosting output to capture a bigger share of this growing market.
