The Joint Committee for Combating Rainwater Emergencies and Risks has held its first meeting to discuss preparations for the rainy season through co-ordination between the authorities concerned. Safar al-Shafi, chairman of the committee, said the necessary arrangements were reviewed at the meeting and discussions were held with all entities involved in the committee, including municipalities, the Department of Mechanical Equipment at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), the MME said in a statement. The preparations include the development of plans and programmes, identifying sites where rainwater may accumulate, deployment of field teams and addressing requirements such as tanks, pumps among items.
