Indian Naval Ship (INS) Mumbai sailed out of Hamad Port yesterday morning after completing a successful three-day visit to Doha, the embassy said in a statement.
The visit witnessed multiple professional and social engagements, enhancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Captain Amit Srivastava, commanding officer of the ship, called on the Indian ambassador P Kumaran on Tuesday and Brigadier (Navy) Faisal al-Binali, head of operations, Qatar Amiri Naval Forces (QNEF) on Wednesday.
Apart from official calls, joint harbour training, sporting events and inter-ship visits were organised during the ship’s stay.
Children from various Indian schools also visited the ship.
In addition, demonstration and workshop on yoga by the Indian embassy was conducted onboard the warship on Wednesday.
The warship undertook co-operative engagements with the Qatar Navy and a Passage Exercise between INS Mumbai and QENF ships was conducted off Doha yesterday.
The aim of this exercise was to ensure that both navies benefit from each other’s experiences towards incorporating ‘Best Practices’.
Bilateral ties between Qatar and India have grown significantly over the last few years as both nations share a common vision of global peace and harmonious co-existence.
The visit of INS Mumbai, after the participation by INS Kolkata in Dimdex-18 in March this year, is testimony to the growing relations between the two nations, added the embassy statement.
