The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) recently hosted a special delegation from the General Authority of Customs (GAC) on the
college’s West Bay campus.
The delegation’s visit, headed by Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal, came to support the students of CCQ’s Associate of Applied Science in Customs Management and Bachelor of Border Management programmes, as well as to “facilitate their learning experience and unleash their potential in the classroom”, it was explained in a press statement.
The event was attended by CCQ president Dr Mohamed al-Naemi and college dean Dr Abdallah Hazaimeh, in addition to 40 students.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr al-Naemi said: “From Day 1, CCQ has been committed to deliver a world-class, comprehensive and up-to-date Customs and Borders education to students. This not only comes in line with our dedication to academic excellence on the institution level, but also directly contributes to developing the capacity and advancing the careers of thousands of qualified Customs
professionals in Qatar.”
Dr Hazaimeh added, “We are proud of our partnership with the General Authority of Customs, which culminated in the development of these distinguished academic
programmes.”
During the visit, al-Jamal led an open discussion with students on a number of key topics, including student projects, work-study balance, classroom and learning environment, among others.
He noted, “We are looking forward to the graduation of the first batch of Border Management graduates, and are confident that our students are set to become distinguished professionals
in their line of work.”
Among the advantages of CCQ’s programmes for Customs and border management students is introducing them to important international treaties and training them on international best practices in the field, said Talal al-Shaibi, assistant director of the Operations and Risk Analysis Department, GAC, and one of the
students attending the event.
CCQ’s two-year Associate of Applied Science in Customs Management and its Bachelor of Border Management programmes are designed to equip individuals with best practices in the field and a full understanding of the roles and mechanisms
of all parties involved.
