The Qatar Armed Forces, represented by the Medical Services Command, and the University of Qatar have signed a memorandum of co-operation aimed at consultation and co-operation to develop educational facilities of the Military Hospital. The agreement was signed by Brigadier Nasser Mohamed al-Kaabi, acting director of Medical Services, and Dr Egon Toft, vice president of University of Qatar for Medical and Health Sciences and Dean of the College of Medicine. Brigadier al-Kaabi said that medical services department is keen to sign such memoranda for their vital and effective role in establishing a new military hospital that includes educational facilities. It also provides medical care to the armed forces, as well as providing education, clinical practice and scientific research facilities for specialised programmes at Qatar University, as well as establishing joint co-operation in the fields of education, scientific research, medicine, pharmacy and health sciences to achieve common benefit in the development of healthcare. Dr Toft said that with the State of Qatar’s interest in human development, which is the cornerstone of Qatar’s national vision, the development of medical and health services in general is at the forefront of the country’s concerns.
