Silatech, an international social development organisation working to create jobs and decent livelihood opportunities for youth, has taken part in the eighth Global Donors Forum in
London, United Kingdom.
Held under the theme ‘Philanthropy’s Response to Inequality and Societal Tensions’, the three-day event included high-level representatives of charities, non-government organisations, corporations,
academics and others.
Faisal al-Emadi, executive director of programmes at Silatech, presented the organisation’s successful innovative programmes in the field of youth employment and alignment with the Sustainable
Development Goals.
Al-Emadi discussed Silatech’s technological solutions that help youth in need and showcased the Narwi crowdfunding platform, a unique platform developed by Silatech that connects youth with financing opportunities and supports them in launching income-generating activities, the organisation said in a press statement.
The Narwi platform allows donors to finance young entrepreneurs throughout the Mena region and beyond and links these individuals with a broader pool of charitable and social giving from within the Islamic world. The platform will officially launch in 2019 and the organisation expects that its activities can expand beyond the Mena region in the future.
Doha-based Silatech works with a network of partners, including government entities, NGOs, international, multilateral and bilateral organisations to mobilise funding and implement employment programmes. It has secured around a million jobs for youth in need in several countries till date.
Silatech was formally launched in 2008 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser at the Alliance of Civilisations Global Forum in Madrid, as an international development organisation that links Arab youth with employment and decent livelihood opportunities.
