As many as 50 Indian companies will make their presence felt in the ‘Big 5 Qatar 2018’, the International Construction Technology and Building Materials Trade exhibition, which is taking place from September 24 to 26 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
The Confederation of Indian Industry, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and in collaboration with the embassy of India, Doha, Qatar is organising an “India Pavilion”, which will be inaugurated by India’s envoy P Kumaran.
The Indian business delegation comprises various segments such as plant machinery and vehicles, concrete, construction tools and building materials, MEP services, building envelope and special construction, construction technologies and innovations and building interiors and finishes.
The construction sector in Qatar represents the fastest growing market in the Gulf region, with an estimated $26bn allocated for major projects and accounting for 47% of Qatar’s total expenditure for 2017. In 2017 alone, 36% of Qatar’s imports were construction-related.
The participation of a large Indian contingent in this year’s edition of expo demonstrates the concerted effort of the Indian private sector to increase their partnership with the Qatari side. It also reflects the resolve of Indian companies to work together with Qatar to prepare for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and to realise the objectives envisioned by the Qatar National Vision 2030.
