Qatar Post has signed a co-operation agreement with Elite Paper Recycling Company to supply 120 containers in addition to the customs clearance service at Hamad Port.
The agreement was signed at the Qatar Post General Office in the presence of chairman and managing director Faleh bin Mohamed al-Naeimi and Elite Company chairman Abdullah bin Ibrahim al-Suwaidi and other officials.
Al-Naeimi said this agreement has come within the framework of Qatar Post’s directives to co-operate with national companies and meet their postal and logistics services, especially in the field of heavy cargo. “This situation is very beneficial for companies, especially after the country prepared the appropriate ground for the logistics sector with investments of around $8bn.”
Al-Suwaidi stressed the importance of co-operation with Qatar Post in the fields of container supply and customs clearance. “Since we are a company specialised in the paper industry, which exports 80% of its products to the regional and Asian markets, we need a local logistic partner capable of providing us with the best services in heavy freight and customs clearance to their vast network locally and internationally,” he said.
Elite Company, established in 2014, has a 100-truck team and more than 1,400 containers distributed throughout the country to collect and recycle paper and cardboard waste into 3,500 tonnes of high-quality cartons a month.
Aabout 20% of the production covers the domestic market, while 80% is exported to several countries, including Kuwait, Oman, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and China.
General manager Mohamed al-Suwaidi explained that Elite Company collects paper and cardboard waste from universities, ministries, institutions, banks and households free of charge, and recycle sensitive documents ensuring their confidentiality.
Al-Suwedi added that the company has allocated 40% of its budget to raise awareness of recycling culture by organising workshops and participating in national exhibitions, as well as providing an opportunity for schools, universities and institutions to visit its factory to learn about the recycling process in Qatar.
