Qatar Charity (QC) said it has provided, through its regional office in Nairobi and along with the support of donors, relief assistance to floods victims in several provinces of Kenya. 

Qatar’s ambassador to Kenya Jabr bin Ali al-Dosari and members of the Kenyan parliament participated in delivering food items to the affected families, benefiting about 8,500 people.
The campaign has focused on three affected regions, Tana River, Kiambu and Machakos. The number of beneficiary families has reached 1,200 with each getting a food basket consisting of essential food items, QC has said in a statement. Mohamed Hussein, director of the QC office in Kenya, said “The relief campaign provided by Qatar Charity comes as a humanitarian gesture to alleviate the suffering of flood victims and help them start over again.

Each food basket consisting of essential items

In the province of Kiambu, food items were distributed to 300 affected families. Ambassador al-Dosari attended the distribution with Kenyan parliament members Paul Quinanji and Abdul Omar Shouri. Al-Dosari said Qatar and its charitable organisations play a vital role in alleviating the suffering of victims across different provinces of Kenya. On his part, Quinanji expressed happiness at the relief campaign, which has benefited thousands of Kenyans, especially those with special needs and old people. He thanked Qatar and appreciated its example of humanitarian aid and charitable work that promote development and social activism.
In the province of Tana River, the relief team of Qatar Charity distributed aid to 500 families. Deputy governor Salim Batuyu thanked the people of Qatar and also expressed gratitude to QC’s efforts to help people in Tana River. In Machakos province, about 400 food baskets were distributed to low-income families. Officials, led by deputy governor Francis Maliti, praised Qatar's charitable efforts and highlighted the spirit of unity among the country's people. 
The QC office in Kenya has carried out 20 relief campaigns for drought and flood victims in Kenya and another campaign for refugees in Dadaab camp over the past two years, benefiting more than 120,000 people, the statement adds.
