The Katara International Hunting & Falcons Exhibition – S’hail 2018 has received praise from the exhibitors for its high standards and evoking interest among visitors.
In a press statement, Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation said the five-day exhibition gained further momentum on Day 3 on Thursday with a number of dignitaries attending the event.
They included Tunisia’s ambassador Salah al-Salhi, Pakistan’s ambassador Shahzad Ahmad and Botswana’s ambassador to Kuwait Manyepedza P Lesetedi.
Patrons have been taking huge interest in the auction held every evening at the exhibition’s falcon auction theatre for the finest breeds of the bird from different origins around the world, the statement notes.
Meanwhile, second-time participants at S’hail from Holland, Frank Lenders and Tressa of Falconcrest (falconry and gamehawking equipment), said they were having a great time at the exhibition.
Most of their goods have already been sold within the first three days of the five-day exhibition.
“Sales wise, we are doing excellent. It is only the third day and we have only about 45 pairs of gloves left. We had brought along 500 pieces. And we still have two days to go,” said Frank.
Manfred Maugasc from Malaga, Spain, who is selling falcons and specially made ‘one piece hood’ eye covers for the birds, says S’hail has become much bigger and is perhaps the No 1 exhibition of its kind in the world.
Maugasc is also a second-time participant at the exhibition.
“It is fantastic. Great organisation, great venue… Probably now, it is the No 1 falcon exhibition in the world specialising in falconry and hunting,” he said on Thursday.
“I was here last year, too, and the exhibition has already grown. It is much bigger than the first edition. There are more people, more customers, more people coming in from abroad to show their products, materials and equipment. And, there are many falcon varieties on sale.
“For us, as promoters of falcon and falcon-related products, the hospitality is also very kind and generous.”
In addition to the variety of hunting-related services and equipment, the Katara International Hunting & Falcons Exhibition provides its patrons with “some of the finest modified vehicles specially designed for hunting trips”.
Equipped with all camping and off-road facilities, these vehicles displayed at the exhibition have been attracting hundreds of visitors and camping enthusiasts.
Pick-up trucks have also been custom-designed to adapt to the nature of the landscape in Qatar and off-road desert trips with different facilities for falconers to enjoy their hobby.
