There is a plan to link the school clinics to the electronic health file services system at the health centres under the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), local Arabic daily Arrayah reported Friday quoting an official source.

"So far more than 30 schools have been linked to the electronic health file services at the health centres concerned," the source explained to the daily.
The School Health Programme is supervising the implementation of the plan to record all data of patients so that the health history of each student who gets certain medications or receives special healthcare would be registered in his electronic health file. This would be also accessible anytime by the school clinic concerned while being updated constantly to reflect the most recent health data of the student.
In the meantime, the source pointed out that PHCC is working on improving the nursing profession services through three main courses covering the Health Promoting Schools Programme, The Health Survey Programme for School Students, and the Programme to improve the services offered at the school clinics.
There are 265 schools in the country included in the healthcare services through 275 school nurses working to promote and improve the physical and psychological health of students and help improve their capabilities, especially those students with health problems.
For instance, nurses at schools follow up closely the cases of students with chronic diseases such as diabetes and make sure that they are getting the due care to keep them in stable health. Besides, nurses follow up giving the necessary vaccines to students according to the relevant schedule.
The source stressed that health services offered by the PHCC in this regard ensures that students would enjoy the best health status to be able to develop their potential properly.
