Mercury will reach Perihelion, which is the point in its orbit where the planet is closest to the sun, in Qatar Sunday, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has said.
At this point, Mercury will be approximately 46mn km from the sun's centre.
In July, the planet reached Aphelion, which is the farthest point in its orbit around the sun, and was around 70mn km from the sun's centre.
On Sunday, people in Qatar have a good chance of seeing the planet over the eastern horizon from the rising time of mercury until sunrise time, according to a statement issued by Dr Beshir Marzouk, astronomy expert at QCH.
The rising time rise of Mercury in the Qatar sky tomorrow will be 4.02am, while the sunrise time will be 5.15am.
The best places to observe Mercury are those without light and environmental pollutions, and they can use astronomical telescopes for the best view of the planet in the dawn sky on Sunday, the statement notes.
The average distance between Mercury and the sun is approximately 58mn km. Dr Marzouk said Mercury reaches the Perihelion point every 88 days, and the last time it happened was on June 6.
