Blue Salon has launched Davosa Military Vintage watches in Qatar. Military watches tread a fine line between camouflage and good readability.
While they should be as invisible as possible to others in the dark, they must nonetheless display the time clearly to the wearer. As a result, many of these watches feature black cases and dials with striking digits and hour markers.
This year, Swiss watchmaker Davosa has once again devoted design capacity to the military watch. The result is a new version of the Davosa Military Automatic – the Military Vintage, which is reminiscent of pilot watches from bygone decades and boasts of a correspondingly vintage look. “Its most striking characteristics are the black dial with markers and digits with ‘old radium’ superluminova coating and a black-coated case. The Davosa Military Vintage comes with a fine vintage leather strap with pin buckle,” a press statement noted.
As with the first military models, Davosa selected a stainless steel case with a diameter of 40mm for the Military Vintage, which can be termed a “classic choice”. “The watch’s striking appearance is generated primarily via the scratch-proof, domed sapphire crystal, the large, grip crown and, last but not least, the dial, which recalls a cockpit instrument,” the statement added. The hands, outsize hour markers and date display in ‘triple date’ format are all particularly reminiscent of aircraft altimeter.
The watch is powered automatically via the tried-and-tested Swiss quality movement ETA 2824-2, and features water resistance up to 200m thanks to a screwed steel base and double-sealed crown. Luminous digits and markers in ‘old radium’ guarantee “excellent readability, making the Davosa suitable for all operations, whether by night, below or above water”.
