Qatar's Abdullah Abubakr won the bronze medal in the 800m race of the current athletics competition held as part of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, until September 2.
Abubaker came in third place with a time of 1:46.38 after Indian runner Manjit Singh who won the gold with a time of 1:46.15 and his teammate Johnson who won the silver with a time 1:46.35.
Qatar's Jamal Hairana finished in six place with a time of 1:49.05.
This is Qatar's tenth medal so far. The gold medals was achieved by duo Sherif Younis and Ahmad Tejan in beach volleyball competition, Abderrahman Samba in 400m hurdles, Abdalelah Haroun in 400m race, and Ashraf Saif in the hammer-throwing competition, while silver medals were won by Yesir Salem Mubarak in the 3000m race, Tosin Ogunode in the 100m race and Fares Hassouna in weightlifting (94kg). Abdullah Abubakr won one bronze in the 800m race and two bonzes were won by Qatari riders in addition to one medal by Hamad Al Marri in shooting (Double Trap).
