Up to 10 people were feared trapped after two apartment buildings collapsed late on Sunday in the city of Ahmedabad in western India, local media reported.
Four people were rescued from the debris of the nearly two-decade-old buildings in the area of Odhav in the city's east, broadcaster NDTV reported, citing local officials.
Gujarat Minister of State for Home Pradipsinh Jadeja told the Press Trust of India that the buildings had been evacuated one day earlier as it appeared they could collapse, however some residents returned on Sunday.
Teams from the National Disaster Response Force and the local fire brigade were brought in to help with the rescue effort.
The buildings were constructed under a government housing scheme nearly 20 years ago, according to NDTV.
