The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will temporarily close 3.5km of the northbound lanes on Al Shamal Road between Al Khor Interchange and Umm Esmaira Interchange to install the last remaining signage gantry of Orbital Road.
The diversion, designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, will be implemented on Friday for four hours – from 4am to 8am.
As shown on the attached map, road users travelling north along Al Shamal Road and heading to Al Ruwais will be required to exit at Al Khor Interchange and take the second exit towards Al Mazrouah Road, then go straight through Al Mazrouah Roundabout, keep right and take the slip road signposted ‘Al Ruwais’, Ashghal said in a statement.
Motorists should then follow the road for 500m and take the right exit loop at Umm Esmaira Interchange back onto Al Shamal Road and continue their journey to Al Ruwais.
Ashghal will install the new guiding signage, requesting all road users to abide by the reduced speed limit of 80kmph and follow the new signs for their safety.
