Amir congratulates Hungarian president
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani sent cables of congratulations to the President of Hungary, Janos Ader, on his country’s National Day. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent a similar cable to Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Afghan truce and release of prisoners welcomed
Qatar welcomed the announcement of Afghan President Mohamed Ashraf Ghani of a truce initiated by the government for a ceasefire at the start of Eid al-Adha. Qatar called on Taliban movement to accept the truce, especially during Eid al-Adha. The Foreign Ministry said in a statement yesterday, Qatar welcomes the announcement by both the Afghan government and Taliban movement to release hundreds of prisoners during Eid. Qatar considered it a step in the right way to demonstrate goodwill from all parties.
