Texas A&M University at Qatar (Tamuq) has announced that it is now accepting applications for its two master’s programmes in chemical engineering for spring 2019.
Texas A&M at Qatar offers Master of Science and Master of Engineering degrees. The graduate studies programme is a significant contributor to the development of the human capital Qatar needs to support its vision and future, Tamuq has said in a press statement.
Noof Abdallah, a current graduate student and graduate process technologist at Qatar Shell, said: “The dilemma of starting a career or pursuing my master’s degree was made easier by Texas A&M University at Qatar. I was looking for a prestigious university with integrated experience while being close to my hometown, and Tamuq gave me a world-class education right here in Qatar.”
Tamuq has “world-class facilities and state-of-the-art laboratories and its faculty are dedicated to teaching and research|. Graduate students work side by side with faculty on research projects that contribute to Qatar National Vision 2030 and its goal of a knowledge-based economy, the statement notes.
Dr Patrick Linke, executive director of graduate studies, said: “Our graduate students participate in cutting-edge research that aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 for sustainable development.”
All graduate students benefit from a flexible course schedule and they also may qualify for funding assistance.
Hania Ayyash, manager of the graduate studies programme, noted: “Our class schedules allow part-time studies next to full-time employment in industry or government, and we also have a number of graduate research and teaching assistantship positions available for full-time students every year.”
Samah Warrag obtained her master’s degree from Tamuq and also recently completed her PhD in the Netherlands. “I’m very grateful for the great opportunity I had to study in a university such as Texas A&M at Qatar. It changed my entire life and was a rewarding journey that equipped me with knowledge and skills to start a successful PhD. I learned about professionalism, teamwork, critical thinking and decision making,” Warrag said.
