Municipalities around the country are gearing up for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays.
They have taken a number of steps as part of the preparations, covering a wide range of services and facilities.
Al Sheehaniya Municipality has adopted a comprehensive work plan to cover all public services within its jurisdiction ahead of and during the Eid al-Adha holidays.
The health control department at the municipality has put in place a schedule that guarantees the presence of veterinarians at slaughterhouses all the time, in addition to increasing the number of butchers and porters to meet the anticipated high demand. Inspection of various food establishments, including restaurants and shops, will be intensified to prevent any manipulation by retailers.

Meanwhile, cleaning works and removal of garbage from street containers will be carried out regularly with special focus on public places and parks. Besides, special efforts will be exerted to detect any potential attempts to slaughter sacrificial animals outside designated places such as slaughterhouses.
Similarly, Al Daayen Municipality has intensified its inspection campaign at food establishments such as meat, fish and poultry outlets, eateries and sweet shops due to the high demand during this time of the year.
A daily schedule has been prepared for all inspectors and veterinarians to monitor food establishments during Eid al-Adha to ensure the safety of food products and conformity to health standards. The necessary action will be taken against violators in order to maintain public health and safety.
The initiatives also include the distribution of pamphlets to educate the public on getting sacrificial animals slaughtered only at slaughterhouses and not outside.
Al Shamal Municipality said it has made the necessary preparations for Eid al-Adha with the aim of providing the best services to the public.
Carried out by various departments of the municipality, the preparations cover areas such as cleanup of public gardens, prayer yards and mosques, health and safety inspections at food establishments, pest and rodent control, as well as maintenance of cleanliness on roads and in other public areas.
Al Rayyan Municipality, too, is all set for the Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has said in a tweet.
Four inspection teams have been set up to carry out checks at restaurants and commercial complexes in the area. Also, a team of veterinarians will be available at the Al Rayyan and Muaither slaughterhouses.
Meanwhile, the MME's General Cleanliness Department is making intensive efforts to keep designated Eid prayer yards and mosques, parks, beaches and other places of public interest clean ahead of the Eid holidays, the MME has said in a press statement.
