Qatar Airways, in collaboration with Qatar Charity, celebrated Eid al-Adha by distributing toys to more than 800 orphans in the Children’s Living Centre in the Reyhanli province of Hatay, Turkey.
The Centre in Reyhanli, the largest non-governmental project caring for Syrian orphan children in the Arab and Islamic region, is an integrated city providing 55 residential villas, in addition to schools, gymnasiums, social halls, a mosque, a health centre, as well as plenty of green spaces. The Centre also provides key services such as education, medical care, and social services to the children of Reyhanli.
“As a global airline, we believe in supporting children around the world by providing them with the tools they need to thrive and grow. We are especially pleased to celebrate this special time of year with the Syrian children in Hatay, sharing with them these special gifts with them that will help them live a happier childhood,” Qatar Airways’ marketing and corporate communications senior vice president Salam al-Shawa said. Earlier this month, Qatar Airways provided students at Kauthara Islamic School in Uganda with desks for their classrooms, supporting the learning of approximately 400 students as part of the award-winning airline’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Qatar Airways has been a proud supporter and partner of the Education Above All Foundation through Educate A Child since 2013.
The airline encourages passengers to donate in support of the children through different methods, including online when booking a flight on Qatar Airways’ website, as well as using the on-board donation envelopes that are collected by the cabin crew.
To inspire and excite its youngest passengers, Qatar’s national carrier recently launched the Oryx Kids Club, offering specially-designed activity packs and meal boxes featuring the Oryx Kids Club mascots.
Qatar Airways currently operates three weekly flights to Hatay, three daily flights to Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 10 weekly flights to Istanbul Ataturk Airport, three weekly flights to Adana Sakirpasa Airport, a daily service to Ankara’s Esenboga Airport, two weekly flights to both Antalya and Bodrum.
