Amir sends greetings to Ecuador’s president
His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent yesterday cables of congratulations to Ecuador President Lenin Moreno on his country’s Independence Day.

Attack on Afghan city of Herat condemned
Qatar has strongly condemned the attack that took place in the western Afghan city of Herat, killing two children and wounding 10 civilians. In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm stance rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives and reasons. It expressed Qatar’s condolences to the victims’ families, the government and people of Afghanistan, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

Qatari riders qualify for Asian Games
Qatari riders Ali al-Marri, Saieed al-Rashidi and Hassan al-Nuaimi have qualified for the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia after outstanding results in the cross country and eventing competitions in Thailand. Hamad bin Abdulrahman al-Attiyah, the president of Asian and Qatar Equestrian Federation, said the riders are capable of excellent performances at the Games.
