Ooredoo Myanmar has donated 10mn Myanmar kyat (MMK) to the Kayin State Disaster Management Committee for flood disaster rehabilitation to assist 80 villages from five townships in Kayin State affected by recent heavy rains.
Ooredoo handed over the donation yesterday (August 10) to Kayin State chief minister Daw Nan Khin Htwe Myint in a ceremony held at Kayin State Government Office.
In addition, Ooredoo Myanmar is offering free 30 SMS and 30 minutes of on-net voice calls to flood victims in 25 affected townships within Mon State, Kayin State, and Bago Region.
“Ooredoo empathises with flood victims and it wants them to stay connected with their families, relatives, and friends because of the difficult circumstances experienced by the people in these communities,” Ooredoo said in a statement.
Ooredoo Myanmar CEO Vikram Sinha said, “Our hearts are together with everyone affected by the flood. As our vision to enrich people lives and to support communities for social development, we would like to extend our contribution to the affected areas. We stand firmly with our three core values - caring, connecting, and challenging. Therefore, we took the initiative to offer aid to help the families connect with their loved ones at the time they need the most.”
Ooredoo Myanmar is operating in Myanmar to support not only telecom infrastructure development but also community development to enrich peoples’ lives, the statement added.
