Coach Unai Melgosa has announced Qatar’s 21-member squad for this month’s Asian Games. Key players Almoez Ali, Akram Afif, Basam al-Rawi and Abdullah Abdulsalam have not been included since the quartet will appear for Al Duhail and Al Sadd in their AFC Champions League quarter-finals slated for later this month.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) said the national squad left yesterday for Jakarta where the Games will be held from August 18-Sept 2. The football competition, however, will start early.

All countries participating at the Asian Games will be represented by a U-23 squad, with three overaged players permitted.
The top two from each group will advance to the round of 16.
