Department of Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Sports will celebrate on Sunday the International Youth Day, which falls on August 12 each year by organising various activities in clubs, sports centres, youth initiatives and girls' centres.
The ministry will organise a special celebration on this occasion.
Director of Department of Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Mohammed al-Hajri told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the department has prepared a busy programme on this important international occasion.
He pointed out that the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Sports on this occasion have been recorded on the international map of the United Nations, as Qatar is one of the most registered countries for activities in the region on this occasion so far, which is positively reflected on the state of youth in Qatar.
Al-Hajri explained that all the activities held on the occasion of International Youth Day this year were prepared by young people, belonging to different races and origins.
He stressed that the Ministry of Culture and Sports has succeeded in achieving one of its most important goals, which is to empower young people, where the youth system currently manages youth cadres, as many of them are working in the management of youth centres.
He added that the youth have been prepared to organise and manage major events in various centres and clubs.
Director of Department of Youth Affairs pointed out that the events of the International Youth Day coincide with the second half of the activities of the centres during the summer.
He praised the efforts made by youth centres, saying that the activities of the centres were so popular that they were overwhelmed by those wishing to register and participate, adding that the Department of Youth Affairs did everything in its capacity to accommodate as many citizens and residents as possible in the various events.
