The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will temporarily close a 5.5km stretch of the southbound lanes on Al Shamal Road between Rasheeda Interchange and Al Khor Interchange.
In a press statement on Wednesday, Ashghal said the diversion has been designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and will be implemented for an hour, from 6am to 7am, on Friday.
The diversion will be carried out in order to complete the installation of signage gantries on Orbital Road, the statement notes.
As shown on the attached map, road users travelling south along Al Shamal Road, heading towards Doha, will be required take Exit 40 at Rasheeda Interchange and follow the diversion signs to get on to Farms Road.
They must then continue on and cross over the bridge at Megareen Bakheela Interchange leading to Al Mazrouah Road and then take the slip road to the right at Al Khor Interchange to join Al Shamal Road and continue their journey towards Doha, Ashghal has explained.
The authority will install new guiding signage and has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit of 80kmph and follow the new signs for their safety.
