Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan clinched their first podium placement in a five-star event of the Beach Volleyball World Tour in Vienna yesterday. “It was a tough match with the Dutch,” Cherif said of their third place match against Dutch pair of Brouwer and Meeuwsen. “They’re a really good team but we played with our hearts. We’re very satisfied with our result and now we just need some rest before we head to our next tournaments.”
It was their first podium finish since they joined forces at the start of the season.
Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sørum defeated Polish Grzegorz Fijalek and Michal Bryl to finish at the top.

Qatar handball team beat Lisbon 27-22
Qatar handball team beat Lisbon 27-22 yesterday in their first test match at Duhail Sports Hall as part of preparations for the 18th Asian Games to be held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
The Qatari team will play against Lisbon in a second match on Tuesday, their last test match before leaving for Indonesia next Saturday for the Asian Games.
The Qatari team recently played two matches against the Iranian team, winning the two matches 28-16 and 27-17 respectively.
At the 18th Asian Games, Qatar will play in Group A alongside Iran and Malaysia.Qatar team is keen to retain the gold medal they won in the last edition of the Asian Games held in the Korean city of Ansan in 2014 after a 24-21 win in the final against Korea.
