HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali al-Hammadi praised the summer recreation programmes and related activities that include sports, reading, exploring, innovations, discussion panels, teaches foreign languages, Qatari culture and agriculture.
He added that the events will help lay a competitive foundation between students, and will contribute to filling their time, developing their knowledge, consolidating their educational, cultural, social, sports and behavioural values.
It will also provide them with life skills appropriate to their age groups, the minister added.
The minister made these remarks during his visit to the summer recreation centre at Hassan bin Thabit Secondary Boys School located in the Old Airport area.
The school is one of the ministry’s centres holding a summer programme.
The minister met the participating students and was introduced to the type of activities and school programmes provided, how beneficial they are to them and their vision on how to develop the programme in the future.
HE al-Hammadi praised the students’ active participation for benefiting from their free time, especially with regards to developing their skills and scientific, spiritual and physical abilities.
The minister also lauded the parents’ role for encouraging their children to enrol, saying the summer programme has attracted many students and achieved its goals of building a balanced personality, developing their skills and nationalism and discovering and refining their talents.
The programme also achieved the goal of directing their emotions, intellectual and physical energies positively, protecting them from the negative effects of free time and providing them with the team spirit that benefits them in their future, he said.
The ministry’s summer programme which kicked off last week, will run till Aug 16 in ten different schools for boys and girls.
