A total of 59,829kg, or over 59 tonnes, of dates have been sold at the ongoing third local dates festival since its launch on July 19, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has said.
Some 19,000 people have visited the festival at Souq Waqif during this period, according to the MME.
More than 11 tonnes of dates were sold on the fifth day of the event.
Of the total 11,622kg sold, Khalas dates accounted for 7,199kg, Khanizi 1,892kg, Shishi 1,712kg, Barhi 588kg, and other varieties, 231kg.
Around 3,500 people visited the festival on the fifth day, the MME added. The festival is open to the public until August 4, from 4pm until 10pm daily.
