Qatar Foundation (QF) is hosting a diverse range of family-friendly events and activities at schools and venues throughout Education City this summer.
QF’s extensive summer calendar offers something for all ages and abilities, with a variety of athletic, academic and other fun activities – including swimming, trampolining, experimental art, baking, films and football – lined up for the coming weeks.
Machaille al-Naimi, president of Community Development at QF, said: “We invite everyone to take part in our summer events this year, and experience the services and facilities that QF has to offer at Education City.
“Community development lies at the heart of everything we do at QF, and our exciting summer activities demonstrate our commitment to fostering a socially-engaged society and nurturing the mental and physical well-being of all members of the Qatar community.”
Among the sports-orientated summer events taking place at QF is a Summer Volleyball Programme at Awsaj Academy, teaching the basic skills of serving, passing, attacking and blocking to children aged 9-12 years.
The programme, which runs until July 29, is free of charge and open to the public.
The Awsaj Recreation Centre is running swimming lessons and a mini swim camp for children and adults throughout the summer.
Meanwhile, the swimming pool at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre is open every Friday from 8am to 6pm.
The Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre will also host a ‘Baking for Children’ event for children aged 4-12 years on July 25, which will teach them to create healthy meals, while the ‘Summer of Learning’ activity at the Education City Club House will give children the opportunity to conduct different science experiments.
Qatar Career Development Centre hosts its Summer Career Camp 2018 at the Education City Student Centre until July 12.
The camp provides high school students with a stimulating experience that will help them make informed academic and career decisions.
Sanea Summer Camp 2018, billed as the ‘Ultimate Project-Based Makers Camp for Kids’, takes place at Qatar Academy Doha from July 8, while Camp Festival is holding its Summer Camp 2018 in Education City from 9am to 3pm, Sunday to Thursday, until August 2.
Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, a QF partner university, holds its Summer Art and Design Programme 2018 for children and high school students daily on its Education City campus, and the Qatar Foundation Recreation Centre and Education City Summer Camps are also providing a wide range of activities for children throughout the summer months.
Meanwhile, a family event celebrating Eid al-Adha will take place on August 23 at the Education City Club House, showcasing Qatari traditions through a host of offerings, including henna tattoo, traditional food, and arts and crafts.
