Friendly football match played in Moscow as part of Qatar and Russia 2018 Year of Culture

A friendly football match was held at the Red Square in Moscow yesterday on the sidelines of the 2018 World Cup, organised by the Russian “Artist” Foundation and the Organising Committee for Qatar-Russia 2018 Year of Culture. A host of officials, artists and media professionals from the two countries participated in the match: Russia, the host country for the World Cup 2018, and Qatar, the host country for the next edition of the tournament in 2022.
The Qatar Team represented a number of eminent personalities including Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Hassan al-Thawadi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Hassan Abdulrahman al-Ibrahim, Rashed al-Quraisi from Qatar Tourism Authority, Public and international relations director at Qatar Museums Mohamed al-Othman, Saoud al-Dulaimi from the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and Faisal al-Tamimi from the Ministry of Culture and Sports and from Media sector Mohamed Saadoun al-Kuwari and Abdulaziz al-Nasr.
The Russian team was represented by the founders and friends of Russian “Artist” Foundation, as well as a number of famous artists, actors and politicians in Russia. The main objective of the match was to highlight the problems of veteran artists in the theatre and film sectors, and to show how people from different professional and cultural backgrounds collaborate for a noble purpose, which is to serve art and culture in this case.
The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation Fahd bin Mohammed al-Attiyah, said that there are many plans for large projects within the framework of Qatar-Russia 2018 Year of Culture, in order to support the organizations and bodies that provide assistance to those who need it, which is one of the pillars of the culture of the two countries, and this joint action allows Qatar and Russia to strengthen cultural ties and develop potentials in philanthropy on a foundation that will continue in the future.
Co-founder of the Russian “Artist” Foundation Yevgeny Mironov, said that he hopes this match will become a symbol of friendship between our two countries, between professionals in different fields, and fans from different countries, and today, we are all united in the love of football and, most importantly, the desire to support not only players but also those we met in the heart of our country, parents, teachers and senior colleagues.
