The State of Qatar has stressed the importance for the Israeli entity to understand that the Palestinian cause is central not only for the Arab and Islamic worlds, but for all free people in the world, adding that the cause and the rights of the Palestinian people shall not be waived for any biased deals which serve Israel solely, instead of promoting the efforts for reaching a just, comprehensive and lasting solution.
This message came yesterday in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by HE the Qatar’s Permanent Representative of the State to the United Nations in Geneva Ambassador Ali Khalfan al-Mansouri, in the general debate on the human rights situation in Palestine and in other occupied Arab territories within the 38th session of the UN Human Rights Council, being held in Geneva from June 18 to July 6.
HE al-Mansouri expressed Qatar’s dissatisfaction with the attempts at marginalising or abolishing item 7 on the Council’s agenda as a major item on the agenda of the Human Rights Council, stressing that such attempts have encouraged Israel to continue committing crimes against the Palestinians.
He strongly deplored continued activities of Israeli settlers, the blockade of the Gaza Strip, the collective punishment of Palestinians, and attacks on Muslim worshippers that has led to a catastrophic humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ambassador also voiced Qatar’s condemnation of the violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people, which included the indiscriminate use of force, arbitrary detention, torture, degrading treatment and the construction of the separation.
In conclusion, al-Mansouri welcomed the UN General Assembly adoption of the Arab-Islamic draft resolution on the protection of the Palestinian civilians, calling for its full implementation.
He reiterated Qatar’s full solidarity with the Palestinian people and its support for international efforts aimed at achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
