The Private Engineering Office (PEO) opened the Gold Souq at Souq Najada yesterday evening. The souq brings together 50 shops under one roof to present a wide variety of gold jewellery and cater to all tastes, according to a QNA report. Following the opening, PEO managing director Nasser Rashid al-Nuaimi toured the new souq where he was briefed on the shops and jewellery displayed. In statements given on the sidelines of the opening, Souq Waqif director Mohamed al-Salem said an office for issuing certificates for the sale of gold would start operating within the next two weeks at the new souq in order to serve customers there. He added that the souq includes the most important jewellery stores in Doha that sell jewellery and yellow gold. The stores have a second floor that can be used as workshops. Further, al-Salem said that the Gold Souq is equipped with all the services and facilities that make it an attractive destination for visitors, where they can move freely within the market and enjoy all the services it offers. The souq also has 250 underground parking slots. PICTURE: Noushad Thekkayil
