German ambassador Hans-Udo Muzel visited the Khalifa International Stadium fan zone to watch the German national team’s second group match against Sweden in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The game, which took place at 9pm on June 23, was broadcast at the Khalifa International Stadium's fan zone, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) in collaboration with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC).
Thanks to a stunning goal in the last minute of extra time by star midfielder Tony Kroos, the German team were able to keep their hopes alive of reaching the second round of the tournament with a 2-1 victory.
“I’d like to extend my thanks to AZF for organising this great fan zone at Khalifa International Stadium. It’s great to see so many people here watching and enjoying football, because sport brings people together. I look forward to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar,” Muzel said.
