The emergency departments across Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) received and treated on Thursday 1,996 persons from 6am until 6pm, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported Friday.

These figures include all patients that visited the emergency departments. Hamad General Hospital Emergency Department alone received 700 patients. 
Dr Hani Kamil, consultant physician at HMC emergency department, said that most of the cases examined at Hamad General Hospital were simple and medium in severity except for three cases, including one who sustained critical injuries in a car accident, besides four other cases of heart diseases. 
He said that the hospital received on Thursday five persons injured in road accidents with one of having a serious injury. 
All the 700 cases examined at Hamad General Hospital left the hospital the same day except for 27 cases that had to be admitted, with some requiring surgical intervention. 
Dr Mohamed al-Ameri, deputy director of the HMC paediatrics emergency department, said that 1,296 children were examined by the emergency departments across the country from 5am to 5pm on Thursday, with Al Sadd Paediatric Department receiving 764 cases. All but 11 were discharged the same day.
During the same period, the Ambulance Service received 175 calls for help and acted accordingly. These included five different road accidents.
