Team of Shynja Welfare Society Group B won a recently held four-day-long volleyball tournament organised by the society on the occusion of Eid al-Fitr. As many as 37 teams of different Neplai community organisations and companies participated in the tournament.
The tournament was inaugurated by Nitesh Sapkota, Second Secretary of Nepali embassy. The winning team was awarded with cash prize QR3,800, a trophy and certificates. The first prize was sponsor by City Express Money Transfer. The prizes were distributed by Samim Miya Ansari, President of National Muslim Struggle Alliance.
Palpa Service Society Group B tean got the second position and won QR2,700. Shynja Welfare Society Group A team got the thrid positiona nd received QR1,700. The certificates and medals were also given to the best player, lighter, shooter, spiker, libero, blocker, defence, receiver and server. At the closing ceremony, Dhanjaya Lamsal, President of Shyanja Welfare Society, said the competition was aimed at bringing the Nepali youths closer to each other through the sport and entertaiment. — Text and photo by Usha Wagle Gautam
