The Centre, the first department store in Qatar, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, with a three-month promotion running until September 10, it was announced on Tuesday.
The Centre is owned by one of Qatar’s largest business houses Ghanem Al-Thani Holdings under the leadership of Sheikh Ghanem bin Ali al-Thani.
“When The Centre opened in 1978, it was acclaimed as the best one-stop shopping centre in the whole of Gulf area,” recalled general manager Moustafa al-Massri in a statement.
Spread across a sales floor area of over 12,000sq m with parking for more than 300 cars, The Centre has been a prominent landmark in Doha visited by many dignitaries.
“The Centre is not only a retail outlet but also a social centre where a substantial number of the local population gather,” stated al-Massri.
The general manager asserted that The Centre will continue to contribute to the economic progress of Qatar under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani.
“In connection with the celebration of the 40th year anniversary, The Centre is offering promotional coupons until September 10 on every purchase worth QR250 from the participating outlets with many attractive prizes through a raffle draw,” the official added.
