The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs honoured more than 220 students of the Holy Qur’an memorisation centres in the annual ceremony held at Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud Hall in the presence of a number of ministry's officials, supervisors of centres and parents.

The ceremony, held last night under the patronage of HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari, honoured 226 students, including 70 students from different nationalities, who completed memorising the entire Qur’an during the past year along with nine Qatari students. 
In addition, 37 Qatari students were honoured for completing classes of the Qur’an and 110 others who presented outstanding performance in the preparatory stage according to the curriculum of the Qur'an centres affiliated to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
The value of the awards reached nearly half a million riyals.
Mal Allah Al Jaber, director, department of da'wah and religious guidance, praised the efforts made by the Qur’an centres during the past year, which resulted in the graduation of a number of memorisers of the Qur’an and the achievement of advanced positions in international Qur’an competitions.
