Sandeep of United Challengers bowled an amazing spell and his impressive six-wicket haul sent Tusker Club crashing to a five-wicket defeat in the Ramadan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium.
The Premier and A Divisions match began sensationally when Sandeep claimed first three of his victims within four balls to leave them reeling at three for two. All the three failed to open their accounts.
He added three more later to have the rivals slumping to 96 all out in 15.3 overs. Rajvendra and Navaneeth also picked a wicket apiece to maintain the pressure on Tusker Club.
Akash survived the longest as he hit a six and two fours in his 38-ball 34. He also troubled United Challengers when they launched the chase. However his three-wicket haul could not impact much as the target was too small to defend.
Opener Niksy anchored his team with 37. His 28-ball innings included three brilliant sixes and three fours. Sunil added 17 not out off 10 balls to help them wrap up the win in 13.3 overs.
In a B and C Divisions match, Rasmy produced a rampaging knock to lift Redco to a five-wicket romp against Al Khor Community.
Chasing a 132-run target, opener Rasmy hammered six sixes and 11 fours to compile a blazing 85 off 30 balls. He led two half-century stands for the first and third wickets to see his team home in 12.3 overs. Rawid got 15 in 12 balls. Fauzer had two wickets for 25.
Batting first, Al Khor Community were restricted by Inam and Rasmy. While Inam snapped four wickets, Rasmy secured two. It was only Fawaz who could resist the rival attack. He hit two sixes and as many fours to get 52 in 54 balls.
