The Ministry of Interior has made considerable preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, it has been announced.

The Traffic Awareness Department director Colonel Mohamed Radi al-Hajiri explained that the Traffic Department continues to offer its usual services at its headquarters at Madinat Khalifa and the other centres across the country from 8am to 5.30pm.

The vehicle technical inspection is from 7am to 5pm. Traffic patrols have been intensified in crowded areas.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence also has intensified its public awareness efforts to instruct people on the importance of following the safety and security instructions. The Operations Department director Major Mohamed Ahmed al-Marafi, gave several tips for the public to ensure the safe use of gas and electric appliances at home, and how to deal with emergencies.

The rescue police patrols maintain round-the-clock presence and provide immediate response if requested by the public, especially in residential areas and near shopping malls and markets.

The Community Policing Department has also scheduled a number of activities during Ramadan.
