The Moon Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that Wednesday (May 16) is last day of the month of Shaaban, and Thursday (May 17) will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
The committee, chaired by Dr Sheikh Thaqeel al-Shammari, held its meeting on Tuesday evening. It said the Ramadan moon was not sighted on Tuesday.
The committee extended greetings to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani, as well as the Government, the people of Qatar and all Muslims, on the advent of Ramadan.
