Mumbai XII defeated QVC by 69 runs in the Division II final of the 4th M Pallonji Day/Night Cricket Tournament to lift the winners’ trophy.
QVC won the toss and asked Mumbai XII to bat first. The latter made good use of the opportunity putting up a mammoth 186 runs on board for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 15 overs.
Fahad was in outstanding form, smashing an 18-ball 42, a knock that included four sixes. Adam added a quickfire 27 from nine deliveries, hitting three sixes and a boundary. Shabab and Shahbaz pitched in with 19 runs each to the total.
Kamran, Mushir, Fauzan and Sultan took a wicket each for QVC.
In reply, QVC were bundled out for 117 runs in 12.1 overs, with Jamil as the top-scorer. His 26-run knock included a six and three fours. Mushir hit two sixes and a four in his 18, while Fauzan and Sultan scored 13 runs each.
Baba, Shabab and Shariq scalped two wickets each for Mumbai XII while Mudassir, Sabir, Fahad and Nadeem took a wicket each.
Fahad was adjudged Man of the Finals, and also the Best All-rounder of the tournament. Teammate Shariq was given the Best Bowler Award. QVC’s Sanjay was presented with the Best Wicketkeeper award, while Serandeep B’s Roshan picked up the Best Batsman Award.
M Pallonji Regional General Manager Chidananda Nayak was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, while Contracts Manager Sharad Reddy was the guest of honour.
