The Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, has held a workshop on time management.
The workshop was organised in collaboration with coach Salah al-Yafei to help and show participants how to manage their time effectively by prioritising and organising steps, which will contribute to the maximum benefit of their time and will be reflected positively on their performance and achieve their goals.
During the workshop, al-Yafei focused on the importance of time and how best to manage it through simple rules that help attendees organise their priorities. He explained that time management is a kind of self-management, and he also discussed how they should prioritise daily obligations and tasks. “By taming time and imposing our control over it instead of its control over us, we can achieve the desired objective, and this can be done by managing the personal behaviour of each individual,” al-Yafei said.
He explained that “one of the characteristics of time is the speed of its expiry,” which forces people “to take advantage of every moment, hence the time spent is irreplaceable.”
Al-Yafei also addressed many issues that negatively affect time management such as ineffective meetings, unclear goals, lack of prioritisation, and many things to focus in order to make the most of our precious time. He said time management is focused on creating a daily plan, initiate a time limit for each task, selecting the right working environment, in addition to avoiding distractions that would hinder the use of time.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said, “Time is one of the most important factors needed for accomplishing business goals, and is considered as one of the best indicators to evaluate success and achievements.
“Through proper planning, individuals will be able to balance their lives to achieve their goals and aspirations and arrange them according to priority and importance.”
