Qatar welcomed yesterday Iraq’s holding of the first parliamentary elections after defeating terrorist organisations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement yesterday that Qatar fully supports the democratic experiment in Iraq and believes that such elections would promote reconciliation, stability and civil peace, in addition to consolidating the foundations of the State’s institutions in Iraq and upholding the rule of law. The statement reiterated Qatar’s full support of all efforts to ensure Iraq’s unity and sovereignty, enhance security and stability by having all political parties and components of Iraqi society join forces.
The statement expressed Qatar’s aspiration that the election results will help realise the ambitions of the people of Iraq of further progress and prosperity.– QNA
