The second campus of the DPS-MIS, one of the leading Indian schools in Qatar, is expected to be ready by September 2019, managing committee president Hassan Chougule told Gulf Times on Thursday.
The foundation stone for the state-of-the-art school complex is to be laid on Saturday in a 32,000sqm plot in the Wukair area.
The school president said the new campus would be located very close to the major bridge across the Wakrah-Wukair-Industrial Area Road (which is part of the Wakrah bypass).
The proposed building, comprising 124 classrooms, would spread over nearly 21,000sqm, with a maximum capacity of 3,600 students.
"There has been enormous demand from the country's residents for admissions at the DPS-MIS and this is one of the reasons why the school has decided to start the construction of its second campus in less than five years since the purpose-built main campus was set up near Immigration office in Wakrah," Chougule explained.
At present, the DPS-MIS campus in Wakrah has about 5,600 students.
"Three companies have been shortlisted after floating the tender and our hope is the contracting firm selected would be able to complete the new building in about 15 months from the end of this month," the school president added.
