The Ministry of Economy and Commerce issued the business process report for April 2018, pointing out that 2,295 new companies have been registered.
According to the report, the number of new major business records reached 1,703, while the number of new sub-registries reached 592 records.
Limited liability companies accounted for 63% of the major business registers, while the category of single owner limited liability companies in second place with 27%, and the individual institution came in third place with 9%.
During the month of April, construction companies topped the list of the most registered activities, with 356 registrations followed by cleaning companies with 164 registrations, 112 registrations for services and 107 for building materials.
According to the report. the number of commercial licenses issued, modified or renewed during April was 7,985 the number of licenses issued by the ministry reached 1,623 licenses, while 1,065 licenses were amended, and 5,297 licenses were renewed.
The number of companies closed during last April was 313 companies, and the proportion of closed companies of new companies was 13.6%.
Contractors led the list with 50%, building material companies followed with 19%, electronic appliances and accessories came third with 12%, public goods trading with 11%, restaurants, cafeterias and ice cream shops at 8%.
In the field of intellectual property rights, the report pointed out that the number of new patent applications last April reached 44 applications, and 179 patent applications have been renewed.
The number of trademark applications registered last month was 22, in addition to 30 certificates issued in the field of copyright and neighbouring rights.
